I was talking to mom about the war (WWII) as we saw a scene in a movie showing a soldier delivering a message to a family that their soldier was missing in action. She then related this memory.

"I still remember when they came to tell me that your daddy was injured in the war. I was outside eating an apple when I saw them coming. I remember knowing that something happened and I threw the apple" (gesturing as if throwing the apple up and to the side), "I still remember throwing the apple!"

Hmmm... I guess being the oldest has some advanatages... I remember my grampa George (thats a memory in itself... see he wasnt ready to be grampa... too young you see, so he insisted that I call him "George" so I called him Grampa George!)  Well when Grampa George played rummy 500 he always was the first to get to -500! It made the game more interesting.
My grampa must have had a thing for nicknames because he use to call me Mary Walrus or Fat
Bologna!  Miss you Grampa -- keep watching over me from Heaven K.  XOXO Love, Mary-Alice (Lala)

I was just remembering going to a restaraunt in Gardena called La Tolteca with mom and dad. I don't remember what I ordered, I only remember that they had a jukebox with mostly spanish songs and I always played songs by Rene and Rene who sang spanish and english especially Lo Mucho Que Te Quiero, which only made me wish my girlfriend was there with me. I actually found a sound clip of the song at Amazon.com.                                            Ruben

Memory I always remember how amazed I was that my grandpa George had no problem with the Rubic's cube. My grandpa lost his eye sight due to diabetes. And when he said to me, "mijo what is that you have?" and I told him what it was and what you were supposed to do with it, he said, “let me try.” I remember having to put it in his hands because he couldn't see and thinking to myself, there is no way he is going to be able to do it. But before my eyes he had completed one side in a few minutes time. I just became a grandpa myself. And when I look at him, I think to myself please! let me be able to amaze him with something, anything that he will love me as much as I loved my grandpa...   I love you and miss you grandpa George.                          Steven...
